New York retro style design apartments

Project description

DAD was approached in 2015 by the architect in charge of the new 55VS. Featuring dramatic 2.9 metre ceiling heights, 5 metre wide floor to ceiling windows and generous open plan living spaces, the apartments offer the ultimate in cutting edge design and superior finishes rarely seen in central London.  Laura Marino, Creative Director at Alchemi Group has been hands on throughout the life of the project. The specification required a Fire Rated mailbox solution that would fit in the Manhattan style designed by Laura Marino. As a much celebrated regeneration area with innovative architectural design, the lobby of this building is a key element of this project. Next to New Scotland Yard and only a stone’s throw away from the chimes of Big Ben, the quality of the mailboxes and finishes was paramount. DAD was specified due to the proven quality of its fire rated mailboxes, but also its capacity to adapt to the client requirements and knowledge of the legislation related to mailboxes (Secured By Design, DDA, Fire Escape Policy…).

It was also required to provide a Bronze finish to all the Fire Rated mailboxes without compromising their integrity. All the boxes were powder coated in Interpon D2525 Anodic Y2217F Matt to fit in the New York Retro Style design.  The result of this is a development that is unique in every sense. Danish charcoal-fired brick cladding, beautiful bronzed balustrades and mailboxes, handcrafted terracotta glazed tiles juxtaposed with high end marbles and dark timber flooring set off the subtly dramatic, open plan spaces which are flooded with light. The contractor SISK was pleased with the end result and the service provided by DAD. All the residents are now enjoying their mailboxes in one of the most prestigious address in London.
